Their debut album simply called 'Unisonic' appeared in spring 2012 to great critical acclaim and commercial success and was followed by a worldwide tour with dates in South America, Europe and Japan, which marked Kiske´s return to the stage for the first time in 17 years. While the album was spiked with remarkable riffs and Kiske´s out-of-this-world vocals, it was only a matter of time until the band re-groups and hits back into the studio to record and even more impressive second effort. After the first Unisonic release, fans expected singer Michael Kiske to return to his Helloween-roots and at the end of the day this album sounded more like a mixture of Hard Rock and AOR instead of Power Metal. But what about the new album Light Of Dawn ? To be honest, I was a bit skeptical when I heard that Kai Hansen wasn’t part of the songwriting process this time, because on the debut album I liked the songs Kai had written the most. To my luck I’ve to say that you don’t find much of that Pink Cream 69 influence on Light Of Dawn. It sounds a lot heavier and faster than this band and the Unisonic debut album! And I think especially the latter is a great thing for Kiske/Hansen fans. The second album comes along with much more speed, balls, drive and punch.
Hansen is nowhere to be found as far as writing, which is perhaps less surprising when considering that his baby Gamma Ray released its first LP in four years this past March
