The Anunnaki (also transcribed as Anunaki, Anunna, Ananaki, and other variations) are a group of deities that appear in the mythological traditions of the ancient Sumerians, Akkadians, Assyrians, and Babylonians. Second Thoughts is a 1976 album by New Zealand art rock band Split Enz. It was recorded in London with Roxy Music's guitarist Phil Manzanera producing the album. Four of the songs on the album were reworked versions of songs from their 1975 debut album Mental Notes. Two other songs on the album had been first recorded during the Mental Notes sessions, but left off and re-recorded for Second Thoughts.
The Gnostic Sethians. by Moe History of the Brotherhood, Modern Gnosis. The Sethians, also known as the Sons of Seth are an ancient royal family and priesthood who had venerated the serpent (worm). The Sethians were said to have discovered astronomy, and inscribed their discoveries on two pillars, one of which, says Josephus, survived in his time. Cicero, in his treatise De Finibus speaks of the Citians as a Phoenician colony. In the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Kittim is used to describe the name of the Romans referred to as warriors from the west, who capture Jerusalem.
Two brothers digging for fertilizer in a cave on their way to avenge their father's murder discovered an earthenware jar that contained an ancient book. Before realizing its value, some of the text was used for kindling by the family, but they eventually realized its age and sold it to a collector in Cairo. Naassenes and Ophites, two smaller and weirder Gnostic sects that also venerated the serpent, are thought to be forms or offshoots of Sethianism. This sect was founded by Basilides of Alexandria, disciple to either the Simonian Menander or a Christian named Glaucias.
Formed of two long tracks this album is a dark and intense, well, treatise that the band describe as Occult Psychedelia For The Initiated. The first track, ‘The Poimandres Of Hermes Trismegistus’, has a real post-rock feel to it, and certainly would not feel out of place were it released on Canadian imprint Constellation Records.
In spite of the diverse nature of the various Gnostic sects and teachers, certain fundamental elements serve to bind these groups together under the loose heading of "Gnosticism" or "Gnosis. Chief among these elements is a certain manner of "anti-cosmic world rejection" that has often been mistaken for mere dualism. According to the Gnostics, this world, the material cosmos, is the result of a primordial error on the part of a supra-cosmic, supremely divine being, usually called Sophia (Wisdom) or simply the Logos
